Students interview each other and Sylvia
1. What are five words that you feel best describe the work with
Sylvia?
Transformative, powerful, inspiring, authentic, conscious
2. What is the most fascinating component of Sylvia’s teachings?
Why?
The most fascinating component is the technology she teaches because
the technology is so simple but it is powerful. The level of
transformation it offers is profound and only requires from you the
desire to know the authentic power of your own existence.
3. What is the central topic of Sylvia’s book? What are the
main themes and/or ideas?
The central topic is alchemy—the energy of transformation and the
idea that our thoughts create energy and that using our thoughts, we
can create the kind of energy that transmutes energy. In this book
“magic” refers to a technology for transforming yourself through
means of heightening the awareness of your own thoughts and
perceptions thus expanding your consciousness and using your
expanded awareness as a technology for transmuting energies. This is
achieved through simple measures: exercises that help you focus your
attention and re-direct your energy toward intentional
manifestation. This book offers a different way of perceiving
reality, a way of relating to the world through personal
accountability and the intentional use of dynamic creative energy.
4. Who will be most interested in Sylvia’s book and why? How
will this book affect people’s lives?
This book is for alchemists; people who are committed to authentic,
radical, change. This is not a book for people looking for a “cure”,
this is a book for people looking for inspiration and change as a
reality that covers every level of existence, looking for a “Tao” or
creative spiritual life path, looking for a spiritual revolution and
a spiritual teacher for today‘s present, crazy-mixed-up world.
5. Is there anything about Sylvia’s teachings and the Real
Magic book that is unprecedented, trailblazing or surprising? Can
the premise of the book be tied into any stories currently being
covered in the news? Everything in this book is a possible
revelation. Though this approach to alchemy as a technology for
changing consciousness is ancient it has never been put into terms
so relevant to a modern readership. The book gives specific
exercises, meditations and tools for realizing ancient spiritual
principles in daily life. The technology presented in this book does
not refer to any particular religion or belief system, therefore no
belief needs to be rejected in order to use the principles and
accomplish a transformed existence.
You may look upon any of the current inspirational thinkers such as
Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Carolyn Myss, etc., as people who are
introducing similar powerful concepts but the ideas put forth in
this book are more distilled and practical. It could best be
compared to the current spiritual movie, ‘What The Bleep Do We
Know’.
Sylvia, what would you say makes you a credible authority on the
book’s subject and on yourself as a teacher?
“My life gives me the authority. I grew up studying herbs,
metaphysics, music, and spirituality, with my mother and various
teachers I have met on my path. I have been teaching classes and
doing private spiritual counseling for thirty years. My many
students make me credible to those who know them and the authentic
transformations they have undergone.”
Could you share any entertaining anecdotes about their
transformation and the research you’ve done?
“The research encompasses my whole life. I am the research. I
have many examples of student triumphs. My students are all pretty
entertaining! I can’t take credit for how amazing they are. That is
a whole other book.”
Could you provide any additional comments or biographical
information?
“Well, the Real Magic Course – all my teachings – it’s not about
me – as a personality. Everything I am is about the Great Work with
my students—the Beauty of God and the Mystery of God. I have been a
jazz singer, a poet, a songwriter, a painter, a sculptor, a radical
feminist, and a mother. My whole life has been focused on radical
creativity. I have few worldly credentials and I have never been
ambitious. I live very quietly. I have been more concerned with how
I present myself before God than how I present myself in the world.
I doubt I will ever win a prize for that! I do have a great sense of
humor!”

REVIEWS of the book from Students:
MAGIC…THE SIMPLE TRUTH -- Alchemy for Today’s World -- by Sylvia
Bennett
“Sylvia Bennett has created a powerful simple teaching that is the
essence of the world’s most ancient spiritual teachings. You will
find yourself reading this book over and over again for years to
come. These simple teachings and steps for true radical
transformation in your day-to-day life are so simple it is difficult
to grasp them as true, how could it be this simple? And yet as you
begin to commit to doing The Work, you see yourself change, your
life change, and your world change, this is the Real Magic. Sylvia
is one of the great teachers of this age, working simply and quietly
with her students in the Pacific Northwest. If true transmutation of
the ego is what you are called to, then this powerful little book
can help you create a simple, beautiful path to Freedom.” (M.J.Harler
- Venice, CA)
“If you liked ‘What the Bleep’ [Do We Know?] you will love this
book. This is a great book—very clear and concise. Not a lot of
fluff but practical and well written. It provides the reader with
wonderful tools on how to live a conscious life. If you have any
interest in quantum physics, meditation, living a more conscious
life, or learning how to be true to yourself—read this book. People
who have read Ken Wilber, John Perkins, Florence Scovel Shinn or
Carolyn Myss would really like this. I’m re-reading it for the third
time right now. Great book!” (S. Johnson - Seattle, WA)
“This book is changing my life. The practices outlined in this book
are ongoing and self-transformation is constantly unfolding. Doing
these teachings over time has transformed my life. I no longer
experience much anxiety, I feel ever freer from anger, depression,
and negativity in general, no matter what the circumstances. I
strongly recommend this book to anyone who is truly looking for
guidance in how to change his or her life in these very challenging
times. Sylvia’s work has given me hope for a beautiful future
regardless of outer events. I’m learning to be true to myself,
thanks to the wisdom contained in this book.” (R. Nowakoski –
Seattle, WA)
“Wonderful book. It captures so much of your mystical, powerful
presence….all the sweetness and compassion and ruthlessness and
wisdom and love and mischief and strength. Full of surprises!”
(Karen Bacon – Maui, HI)
“One of the things that is hitting me is how intelligent the book
is, how awesomely intelligent. I can barely fathom the focus it must
have taken to get this mass of intense intelligent information into
a cohesive form. Fantabulous job! Wow! How lucky we are.” (Aile
Hepburn - Connecticut)
“What an amazing tool. …it felt like you were whispering in my ear.
Reminded me a lot of the same feeling I get from “Think on These
Things” (by Krishnamurti) in that I can pick any chapter and have a
lesson or reminder for the day. …you nail information in such an
easy and succinct way. An amazing work and I have so much love and
respect for all you have dedicated your total being to in this life.
Thank you.” (Tanya Hughes - Standard Spa, Miami FL.)
“This book and the work with Sylvia changed my life. It is so simple
and so true. You can throw away all of your self-help and psychology
books and stop seeing your therapist after you read this. It is all
you will ever need—to read and know about the Great Work and how to
apply it to your everyday life. It is inspiring and beautiful.”
